How to check if a personal trainer is NREP registered

NREP is a voluntary register run by Sport Singapore. You can look a trainer up yourself on the official site in a minute. Here's how, and what the result does and doesn't tell you.

What NREP is

The National Registry of Exercise Professionals (NREP) is run by Sport Singapore (SportSG). Personal trainers and other exercise professionals can apply to join if they meet its requirements, such as holding a certification SportSG recognises.

Joining is voluntary. Singapore doesn't require personal trainers to be licensed or registered, so plenty of qualified, experienced trainers aren't on NREP. Being registered is a useful sign, but it isn't a guarantee of quality, and not being registered doesn't mean a trainer is unqualified.

How to look a trainer up

  1. Open SportSG's official Find an Exercise Professional page on SportSync.
  2. Search for the trainer's name. Try the full name as it appears on their certificate, as well as any shorter name they use.
  3. Check that the person in the result is the trainer you're talking to, and look at the category and registration status shown.

If you can't find them

Ask the trainer. They may be registered under a different name, may have chosen not to show a public profile, or may not be registered at all. Either way, ask which certification they hold and when they earned it, and ask to see the certificate.

How this directory handles NREP

We don't check NREP registration or qualifications. The certifications on each profile are as stated by the trainer or studio on their own website or social pages. We don't copy anything from SportSync, so use the official lookup above to check a trainer yourself.
