How to choose a personal trainer in Singapore

There are 393 trainers and 197 studios and gyms on this directory alone. Here's a simple way to narrow it down to the right one for you.

1. Be clear about your goal

Losing weight, getting stronger, training through pregnancy, coming back from an injury, staying strong as you get older: trainers tend to specialise. Start with people who list your goal. Browse by goal.

2. Decide where you'll train

Near home or work, at a studio, in your condo gym, outdoors or online. The closer and easier it is, the more likely you are to keep going. Where to train with a PT.

3. Set a budget

Among trainers here who publish a price, most charge S$85 to S$100 a session, and packages usually bring that down. Full price guide.

4. Check qualifications

Singapore doesn't license personal trainers, so ask what certification they hold and check it. NREP registration is voluntary but easy to look up. Certifications explained and how to check NREP.

5. Shortlist two or three, and book trials

A trial session is the best test. Notice whether they ask about your history and goals, watch your technique closely and explain what they're doing. Questions to ask.

6. Read the package terms

Expiry, freezes, cancellations and refunds, in writing, before you pay. Packages, contracts and refunds.
